The Dark Cave, Phong Nga, Vietnam

The Kha Bang National Park in central Vietnam, just north of the 17th parallel and close to the Laos boarder is host to some of the world's most impressive Caves. Two of the world's largest caves are found here, Paradise Cave stretching some 6 km into a mountain side with galleries large enough to host a Manhattan city block, and Dong Song, discovered only a few years ago and is today considered the world's largest.

But big caves are not the only attraction. For us, the much smaller Dark Cave was by far our speliologic highlight.Caves are supposed to be dark, although we often visit them with blarring florescent lights and head lamps. This cave however is meant to be viewed in the dark!

This video shows our forray into the mud tunnel, but other highlights included swimming through the underground lake in pitch black.
